About the Course

Target Audience

Linguistics course is presented to third-year students of English.

Brief Description

Linguistic theories study different aspects of language such as its structure, acquisition and use. During the first and the second years, students were expected to learn about theories related to the study of language itself from a narrow perspective (micro-linguistics). The influential theories and schools in theoretical linguistics were at the core of the second-year linguistics syllabus.   In the third year, students will be introduced to the macro perspectives of language research. The language will be examined in relation to other fields like sociology, psychology, neurology, and education. Therefore, the present course will be divided  into the following chapters:

1. Sociolinguistics

2. Psycholinguistics

4. Neurolinguistics

5. Applied Linguistics
