Description of the Course

This course is composed of  teaching/ learning lectures starting from theory to more practical ones. Each lecture  is composed of many sequences which, in turn, include separate ultimate objectives. All lectures are designed to be taught consecutively; each one contains sections that discuss the relevant core idea of the subject studied. These sections are regularly interpreted with some exercises and practices in a form of classroom practices for the students to consolidate and assess their understanding of the subjects presented and other projects done outside the classrooms. Furthermore, the course introduces and discusses approaches, strategies, data collection tools, types of methods, etc., relating to educational research. Students will consider how to select the appropriate methodology for use in a study to be performed. Additionally, they will learn how to collect data based on different data collection methods, construct these tools, after piloting them and become ready for use. Finally, it elucidates the requirements for an academic work, considering aspects related to language, writing style such as APA, MLA, etc., and lay-out. To culminate this final stage, students will learn to write comprehensive parts of an academic research among them: research proposal, an abstract, literature review, in-text citations and list of references, title/cover page, that will be conducted in the class via workshops for students each  as a part of their class activities and quizzes (see evaluation mode).

Pedagogical Description

The module was firstly introduced within the LMD system (2009). It is taught via six semesters as a fundamental unit. Then it is extended to master level (2016-2017).

Course Description

This course introduces the Research techniques module for undergraduate students (L3). It also provides definitions, basic expressions, concepts, illustrations, and a plethora of other information pertaining to the research field. This course's main goal is to theoretically prepare students to understand what research is and the various methodological steps involved in achieving research objectives. As master's students, this will enable them to practically conduct and handle it in the near future.
